The introductory gallery gives an overview of 15 centuries of history before entering the central area of the archeological site. The ancient inhabitants had a fascination for water and the sun, and their monuments reflect this.

An extensive exhibition introduces the visitor to the majestic site of Tenam Puente. The photographic collection and the archeologists’ plans explain the grandeur of this Maya site and its buildings, stairways, embankments and temples.

Don Miguel Hidalgo’s last home, which he left in order to lead the first phase of the War of Independence. It contains the national hero’s personal objects, arms and documents of the time, reproductions of portraits, lithographs and books that belonged to him, in a carefully recreated atmosphere of the period.
