To reach the site, take the Saltillo-Torreón federal highway to kilometer 43, where you’ll find the turnoff to the Rincón Colorado ejido in the municipality of General Cepeda; the community is 2.7 kilometers away, and you’ll need to leave your car there.

The museum in General Cepeda, Coahuila, displays fossils, replicas, and information about the dinosaurs that inhabited the region approximately 72 million years ago. It also offers a tour of the paleontological site, where visitors can explore excavation areas and learn about the significance of this important fossil site in Mexico.

The museum, located in the municipality of General Cepeda, Coahuila, is a space dedicated to the conservation, research, and dissemination of the region’s paleontological heritage. At this museum, visitors can learn about the history of dinosaurs and other forms of life that inhabited the area approximately 72 million years ago through fossils, replicas, informational panels, and interactive exhibits.

As part of the experience, the museum offers a tour of the Rincón Colorado Paleontological Zone, where visitors can observe excavation sites and gain insight into the work paleontologists do to discover and preserve fossil remains. This site is considered one of Mexico’s most important paleontological sites, as unique dinosaur species, such as Velafrons coahuilensis, have been found there. The visit offers an opportunity to learn about the evolution of life on Earth and to appreciate Coahuila’s natural and historical wealth.
