This site is famous for its adobe constructions and its T-shaped doors, which demonstrates the architectural skills of its ancient inhabitants. Toward the west of the city there is a row of structures built with stone and mortar which were probably coated in painted lime, and functioned as a ceremonial center.

The great Zapotec capital, on the flattened top of a group of hills, where the populace lived on the hillsides. Marvellous monuments, burial sites, ceramics, gold jewellery and fine stones. A rival of Teotihuacan, it was invaded by this empire, but survived to leave this amazing legacy.

Uxmal

Uxmal is a magnificent and monumental city, one that astonishes visitors with its Pyramid of the Magician, the Nunnery Quadrangle and the House of the Doves. This is the most representative Puuc-style site with its decorated facades with masks of the god Chaac, fret patterns, hieroglyphic panels and tall roof combs.

The great Mesoamerican city was at the heart of politics, the economy, trade, religion and culture. Its influence reached such distant places as Tikal. The city of Teotihuacan was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987, owing to the outstanding value of its monumental building complexes, mural paintings and living areas.

The area has some of the richest and most ancient cave paintings in the world. Dating back 8,800 years, these prehistoric paintings are in gullies, ravines and caves. They are remarkable for their size, quality and condition. The cave paintings were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.

An indigenous city built on the top of the Xochicalco hill possibly for visual dominance of the landscape. The ancient settlers built walls, moats and large access roads for absolute control of their entrances.

Their knowledge in engineering, environment, astronomy, construction, and aesthetics is distinguished in each of the platforms, temples, palace and residential houses that can still be admired at the site. Showing the heritage values that made it a site inscribed on the World Heritage List as a cultural asset and recognized by the original inhabitants that are still preserved nearby as The House of the Flowering Knowledge.

The city of King Pakal, whose sumptuous tomb was discovered by archeologist Alberto Ruz Lhuillier in 1952. The museum houses his rich collection and shows the great skills of the ancient Maya as sculptors and metal workers, their funeral customs, the life of the elite and of the populace.
