Museo de Sitio de Trincheras
Through an exhibition of archaeological artifacts and interpretive materials, the museum provides information about the Trincheras tradition, its way of life, activities, and environment.
The Trincheras Site Museum offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the history, culture, and archaeological heritage of the Trincheras region in the state of Sonora. Through its exhibition halls, the public can discover how the ancient inhabitants of Cerro de Trincheras—one of the most important archaeological sites in northwestern Mexico—lived.
The exhibition features archaeological artifacts such as pottery, stone tools, shell objects, and other remains recovered during excavations in the area. It also provides information on the natural environment, ways of life, agricultural activities, trade, and the beliefs of the society belonging to the Trincheras Tradition, which flourished between 200 and 1450 AD.
A visit to the museum is the ideal starting point for exploring the Cerro de Trincheras Archaeological Zone, as it provides the necessary context to understand the significance of its stone terraces, the organization of its ancient inhabitants, and the site’s historical and cultural importance. Through its exhibits and interpretive resources, the museum encourages visitors to appreciate and preserve the archaeological heritage of Sonora and Mexico.
