Huiricuta: Raunax

Located in the Sierra de Catorce, this is where the final altar of the route is located. It comprises twenty-nine sacred sites and represents the ultimate destination of the pilgrimage.

It corresponds to a portion of the northwestern Sierra de Catorce, which includes the highest peak in the Chihuahua Desert, with an altitude of 3,780 meters. The rugged topography of the area comprises a succession of mountains and deep ravines, and is home to the golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), as well as other rare bird species.

In this sacred mountain landscape lies the final destination of the route: the last altar. The series of sites that make up this property represent the stages that are traveled to reach this altar, as well as to descend from it.
