Tatei Nihuetucame (Cerro de la Bufa)
Also located in the urban environment of Zacatecas, this complex of hills is a manifestation of Mother Earth. It contains seven sacred sites where prayers and offerings are made.
Our mother who holds us in her arms. This site is known by other names, all associated with different manifestations of the same female deity: Corn, the Virgin, and Mother Earth, among them. Tanana Jaya: Waters of the Virgin. Tatei Huaxahuimari: Our mother of young corn. Yurameca: Sprout or germ, that which gives life, that which allows growth.
This is a sacred hill with rock formations and springs. Located east of the historic city of Zacatecas (a World Heritage Site), this park is a landmark of the city and a tourist attraction, known locally as “La Bufa.” Within it are several sacred sites and areas used for rituals and offerings.
