Cacai Mutijé
Route element
Cacai Mutijé
An area of scrubland with hills and rocky outcrops located southwest of the city of Zacatecas. It is home to golden eagles and includes four sacred sites. It is considered a symbolic threshold along the route.
This passage describes a threshold site within the Huichol Route, a symbolic and spiritual transition point on the journey to Huiricuta.
This place is home to species that are key to the ritual cycle, such as the golden eagle, the quieri (Solandra brevicalyx), wild boars, birds of prey, and cacti such as the temucuri. The jicareros perform acts of purification and bless their sandals before continuing.
It is considered a “mystical window” that separates and connects two sacred areas, functioning as a spiritual and geographical threshold.
Sacred sites:
- Mayasimuani.
- Xayetsie.
- Teihuari Xure Manahue.
- Cacai Mutijé.
