Xurahue Muyaca
Route element
Xurahue Muyaca
It extends across the Sierra de Cardos mountain range, in the municipalities of Jerez, Susticacán, Tepetongo, and Valparaíso. It comprises eight sacred sites, including a forest of rocks and hills that are considered petrified ancestors.
Xurahue Muyaca is a portion of the Sierra de Cardos, a majestic sacred landscape considered to be a forest of ancestors petrified in the form of rocks and hills.
Many of the ancestral deities who participated in the first pilgrimage were snake men and women. In this area, many of them turned to stone when they ran out of water, becoming part of this great forest of petrified ancestors. The elongated rock formations that can be recognized in this area are all petrified ancestral snake deities.
Xurahue Muyaca is the sacred site that governs the entire area, and is sometimes called Xurahue Muta.
