This mining settlement was founded in the early 17th century but was later abandoned. The first church appears to date from 1719; however, on March 2, 1804, the process began to build a new church in Noria de los Ángeles.
The current church began construction on June 24, 1870, and was completed in August 1872. The bell tower was built in 1920. In the sacristy, there is an intriguing painting of St. Anthony of Padua, a saint who gained significant fame in New Spain due to the Franciscans' promotion.
The church houses a well-proportioned painting of Ánimas, created in 1752 by Valentín Macías. This artwork is dedicated to St. Nicholas of Tolentino, the patron saint of the miners of the Real.
