The San Juan de Ulúa Fort Museum displays the state of Veracruz’s most significant collections of archaeological and historical artifacts. The tour of the museum is organized around two themes: the archaeology of the Gulf of Mexico region and the history of the San Juan de Ulúa Fort. In the archaeology section, visitors can admire the permanent exhibition “The Cultures of the Gulf,” consisting of 266 pre-Hispanic artifacts that bear witness to more than 3,000 years of cultural development achieved by ancient civilizations, from the Olmecs to the Totonacs and the Huastecs. The collection includes obsidian and ceramic pieces, as well as elements of a ballgame.
