Pedro Sáinz de Baranda
Monumento Histórico
This building, which currently serves as the Municipal Palace of Campeche, City Council of Campeche, was built in the 17th century. In 1841, the city council proposed remodeling the building, decorating the facade, and installing marble flooring in the assembly hall and brick flooring in the Secretariat and upper galleries. In 1846, it became a shelter and maintenance center for beggars, which survived thanks to the 100 pesos contributed by the city council and donations from some wealthy individuals. In 1989, the Ministry of National Defense handed over the building to the government, and the new municipal palace was inaugurated on October 4, 1990.
