The Stone Fort Museum commemorates a structure built in the late 18th century that served as a trading post, private home, church, jail, and saloon.

The original structure was built by Antonio Gil Y'Barbo as a market or storage area for the town of Nacogdoches at the intersection of Old San Antonio Road an La Calle del Norte. After this structure was torn down in 1902, the Texas Centennial Commision built a replica in 1936 on the grounds of Stephen F. Austin State University.
