Dolores-Applewhite Crossing

Dolores-Applewhite Crossing
Abstract

Dolores-Applewhite Crossing is one of many important stream crossings along El Camino Real de los Tejas, providing visitors with a close-up look at wagon ruts.

Natural beauty and historical significance meet at the Dolores-Applewhite Crossing. Situated in the Medina River Natural Area on land that used to belong to Texas governor Ignacio Perez back in the 1700s, recent archeological research has revealed wheel marks that attest to the Dolores-Applewhite Crossing's role in travel along El Camino Real de los Tejas.

Located in the Medina River Natural Area, this historic crossing provides a prime example of healthy riparian habitat while also containing historic traces of El Camino Real de los Tejas.
