It bears witness to the work carried out in this important area over nearly 20 years by Mexican archaeologist Jorge R. Acosta. It opened its doors in new facilities in November 1982. The design of the single-story building presents a historical and cultural overview of the origin, development, and decline of the Toltecs and the archaeological site of Tollan Xicocotitlan (“place of reeds near the place—or hill—of the jicotes”), through five thematic sections arranged in a natural “U” shape.
