Zona arqueológica El Tajín
INAH

This majestic site captivates visitors with its vast open spaces, ball courts, reliefs, and, in particular, the elegant Pyramid of the Niches, which features 365 niches—a feature that has made it a subject of study for specialists in Mesoamerican calendars and worldviews.

A World Heritage Site since 1992, the archaeological zone of El Tajín is dedicated to the god Tajín, which in Totonac means “thunder” or “powerful smoke.” He is an entity associated with severe weather phenomena, which is why he came to be identified as the god Hurricane, and the site became known as the city of the god Hurricane.
