More than 3,600 years ago, the inhabitants of the coast of what is now Veracruz developed one of the most remarkable technologies of the ancient world: the manufacture of rubber balls.

The exhibition Ritual Rubber: Millennial Balls introduces the public to the history of the balls discovered at El Manatí, an archaeological site associated with the Olmec culture, where the oldest known rubber balls were found. Through graphic and audiovisual resources and archaeological artifacts, visitors can learn about the manufacturing process, their ritual significance, and the challenges involved in their conservation.

The exhibition features an original ball dating back approximately 3,600 years, as well as a replica crafted using traditional techniques that visitors can touch to experience the physical properties of this extraordinary material
