Zona arqueológica Teotihuacán
A great Mesoamerican city and a political, economic, commercial, religious, and cultural hub, whose influence reached as far as Tikal. Due to its exceptional features, such as its complexes of monumental buildings, mural paintings, and residential complexes, the city of Teotihuacán has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1987.
The archaeological zone open to visitors covers 264 hectares, where the main complexes of structures and monuments are located: the Citadel and the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, the Quetzalpapálotl Palace, and three distinct areas featuring remarkable murals (Tetitla, Atetelco, and Tepantitla).
Two site museums complement the visit and guide learning and curiosity: the Museum of Teotihuacan Culture and the Beatriz de la Fuente Museum of Teotihuacan Murals, to which is added a temporary exhibition hall in the so-called “Ex-Museum.” Archaeological artifacts can also be admired in the Sculpture Garden. The botanical garden next to the Teotihuacan Mural Museum is also well worth a visit.
