Refectory or Dining Room
Sala
This was the space where friars gathered to share their meals. Its size reflects the hope the friars held for the future growth of their order. During meals, one member of the community would read aloud from the Bible or other religious texts.
The refectory was expected to display simplicity and austerity, furnished only with communal tables—most notably, those for the Guardian Father and the senior friars.
