The Guerrero Regional Museum is housed in a building constructed in 1902 to serve as the government palace. It is the only officially registered historic monument in Chilpancingo and represents one of the state’s most important cultural legacies. The architecture is neoclassical, typical of public buildings from the Porfiriato era. The interior murals lend it artistic value. It opened to the public in March 1987.
