Canchas desiguales: El terreno de juego no es igual para todos
As part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and with support from the Televisa Foundation, Costa Rican artist Priscilla Monge presents *Unequal Fields: The Playing Field Is Not the Same for Everyone*. The installation consists of a soccer field set on uneven ground, where slopes and unevenness alter the conditions of the game.
Through this work, Monge offers a metaphor for structural inequality. In Mexico, more than 38% of children and adolescents live in multidimensional poverty, demonstrating that not everyone starts from the same conditions. The piece highlights how these inequalities are not due to a lack of talent or individual effort, but rather to social and economic contexts that predetermine opportunities for development.
The production will be staged simultaneously at three venues during the 2026 World Cup:
- Monterrey — Macro Plaza, across from MARCO
- Guadalajara — MAZ
- CDMX — Museo Tamayo (esplanade)
