Gliptoteca Abierta. Colección escultórica del Museo Nacional de San Carlos
A tribute to Manuel Vilar, head of the sculpture department at the San Carlos Academy (1846–1860), a key figure in the renewal of Mexican art beginning in the mid-19th century. The exhibition brings together his work alongside pieces by colleagues and students associated with the San Carlos Academy, allowing his work to be situated within the institutional and educational context of the time.
Through this collection, the exhibition offers an interpretation of the role Vilar played in the teaching of sculpture and the transformation of artistic practices in Mexico, as well as his influence on the generations of artists who trained under his guidance.
Admission: $75
