Zona arqueológica Palma Sola
Palma Sola covers an area of approximately 3.8 hectares, specifically on El Veladero Hill, in the area known as the “Amphitheater.” It is no coincidence that this site was chosen for a ceremonial center: two streams originate here, and there is a rocky shelter; moreover, this location offers a commanding view of both the lower slopes of the hill and the bay. In fact, people from nearby settlements (what are now known as Hornos, Caleta, Puerto Marqués, Zapotillo, and Tambuco) would make the climb here to celebrate religious festivals. The site was also used for astronomical observations to determine the rainy seasons, planting dates, and periods of drought.
