ENAH Archeology graduate (1995) and MA in Mesoamerican Studies from UNAM (2009), he has been the Chiapas INAH Center Research Professor since 1993. He is currently directing the Iglesia Vieja and Hunchavin Archeological Project and is the field director of the Yaxchilan Archeological Project. Priot to that he took part in the Cancun Project (1976), the San Jerónimo Project (1977), the Northwest Lowlands Project (1978), the Yaxchilan Project (1979-80), the Tonina Project (1986), the Pomona Project (1988), the Yaxchilan Project (1989-91), the Hunchavin Project (1994) and PROCEDE INAH Chiapas (1996-1998). He has been actively involved in cultural dissemination projects between Mexico and Japan since 1982, promoting archeological exhibitions in both countries. He wrote the book Artefactos líticos de Yaxchilán (2003, INAH, Scientific Collection 455), as well as numerous articles on the archeology of Chiapas, focusing on Yaxchilan, Hunchavin and Iglesia Vieja.
