Carlos Javier González González

Archeology graduate of the National School of Anthropology and History, member of the Templo Mayor project from 1979 and research professor of the National Institute of Anthropology and History since 1982. He coordinated the Chinampas Archeological Project in the Xochimilco area between 1989 and 1992.
In April 2006 he earned a distinction for his PhD in Mesoamerican studies from the UNAM Faculty of Philosophy and Letters. His thesis is on the Mexica worship of Xipe Totec, the relationship of a Mesoamerican deity to war and corn. It was published jointly by INAH and Fondo de Cultura as: Xipe Tótec. Guerra y regeneración del maíz en la religión mexica.
