Rebecca Gonzalez Lauck

Scientific Research Professor at the National Institute of Anthropology and History in Tabasco. She was appointed curator of Gulf Cultures in the National Institute of Anthropology and History of Mexico City.
She took a bachelor’s degree at the University of Tulane in New Orleans, and her MA and PhD at the University of California in Berkeley.
She held a National Science Foundation scholarship from the National Science and Technology Council and was also a Fulbright Scholar. She has worked on archeological projects in various parts of Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Bolivia and the United States. She has headed the La Venta Archeological Project since 1985, directing the research, protection, conservation and restoration programs at the La Venta archeological site in Tabasco.
She has organized and participated in symposia, coloquia and round tables in several academic forums in Mexico and abroad, as well as serving on the academic committees for various international exhibitions. She has published scientific and popular texts in various books and Mexican and foreign journals. She co-edited Olmeca. Balance y perspectivas. Memorias de la Primera Mesa Redonda, published in 2008.
